On March 16th, the exhibition “Equinox!” was a groovy happening at the Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery, in La Cieneguita, near San Miguel de Allende, MX. It featured my newest artistic project: “Child’s Play,” an exploration into childhood memories.
Years after moving to Mexico, I rediscovered a cache of family treasures that I hauled all the way from the US to my new home. The hoard includedShirley Temple dolls, one from the 30’s (that belonged to my mother) and one from the 50’s (that belonged to me), vintage memorabilia, kids’ games, and even a pair of collectible white Beatle boots.
These found objects sparked a visual journey examining familial relationships and mother-daughter dynamics.
The exhibition runs through the end of July at the gallery, for more information and directions visit www.chapelofjimmyraygallery.com
